Study no. 42
Performance Instructions
For toy piano.
The score contains of 28 interconnected circles. Each circle contains a treble staff with 1, 2, or 3 events (only 3 have 3 events, 4 have 1 event). Events consist of single notes and chords. For those with 1 event, the event should be played at the moment the red circle converges on the active circle. For those with 2 or 3 events, the leftmost event should be played as the red circle converges on the active circle, and the following 1 or 2 events played before the next convergence, or before the active circle moves.
The active circle is indicated by a translucent red circle. The convergence of a red circle on the active circle indicates when the player is to begin playing the events within the circle.
Study no. 42 can be performed alongside Study 24 [dance1] or Study no. 29 [paper pieces].
Duration: 6 minutes or more.
